SEVA PARAMO DHARMA

“It is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.”

Learning about giving and helping others give kids a feeling of empowerment. We, at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, empower children with the mindset that ‘we can help and we can make a difference.’ We take utmost care that the principles of empathy and compassion are embedded in the children right from their young age. They involve and evolve themselves in seva and uphold the virtues to uplift the society. We provide financial aids and donate essential equipments to the needy. Our beneficiaries include Madhavam, Sandhwanam, Vivekananda Trust, Sreekaram, Cultus (Cancer Centre, Palluruthy)

Ellavarkum Ponnonam - Onam, the festival of Kerala, rich in  tradition, is celebrated with the theme ‘Ellavarkum Ponnonam’ by CVK. Every year Onam kits including vegetables, provisions and dresses  are gifted to the underprivileged sections of the society.

A Handful of Rice with a Heartful of Love - All the students of our vidyalaya (from KG to class XII) contribute to the noble cause of erasing hunger by bringing a fistful of rice every Thursdays.

‘Each One, Teach One’ – Senior Secondary students of the school take spoken English classes and computer classes to the support staff and the underprivileged students of the neighbourhood.

“Oru Vayar Aaharam”- We distribute food packets at regular intervals to the needy patients and their bystanders at the Government Hospital, Palluruthy.

Joy of giving campaign’- Students of our vidyalaya donate new and old  clothes to ‘Snehabhavan’, Palluruthy and to the underprivileged families living in and around the locality of our Vidyalaya.

`Weaving together Kerala’- The Vidyalaya has also played an important role as the flood and landslides continued to cause havoc. It not only accommodated people who had been displaced or had lost their homes but also helped the weavers of Chendamangalam by joining the `Weaving together Kerala’ campaign. The staff, students and parents of the school worked together and upcycled the debris of soiled saris fabric into Chekutty dolls to help raise funds for the weavers.

Thus, CVK, one among the best schools in West Kochi, stimulates students’ intuitional and instinctive knowledge by helping them think and anticipate on a global level from an early age. It is especially important to teach youth that they are part of a larger community and that everyone is responsible for those around them. Standing by the needy in times of emergencies is a stronghold of CVK, where charity is a constant endeavour.
